The Washington Nationals are tied for the fourth best record in the majors are leading the National League Eastern Division still after playing .500 ball in their last 10 games despite substantial injuries especially on the offense end. After a 3 game winning streak, the New York Mets have come back to earth somewhat “sliding” to third place behind the upstart Nationals.
Washington’s Right Hand pitcher Edwin Jackson has lost 2 out of his last 3 outings, but that record does not do him justice at all. Over his last 3 games, Jackson has only allowed a total of 5 earned runs on 17 hits in 21 and 2 thirds innings of work. In his last 2 starts, New York’s Hefner has graciously surrendered 9 earned runs on 15 hits in 9 and 2 thirds of labor.
