The Yankees could finish with the best record in baseball, which would be truly remarkable with the season they’ve had. No one wants to opine for the $200 million dollar crew, but if not for the Tigers, Torre would win MOY hands down. And with the AL Central uprising this season, the postseason Yankee matchups don’t look half bad. No Boston, no Anaheim, former Yankee killers.
Detroit v. NY – No one believes in Detroit, they will be doubted until they win the World Series.
Oakland v. NY – Oakland’s been a quiet surprise this season. But no one believes they have more than a win or two in them come october.
Minnesota v. NY – Twins are the team to watch. No one wants to face them. Liriano is returning and his health and performance may well dictate the postseason.
Chi. v. NY – White Sox are on the out looking in right now. But they will be scary if they get in. They need Buehrle though.
I don’t know if Jeter should get the MVP, but he’s been big this year. Matsui’s return is big. But no matter what, the whole postseason depends on Randy Johnson.
Liriano vs. Unit would be nice to see. Off a Santana win in Game 1, Twins in driver’s seat. Can Unit win that game?
Twins Vs. Mets would be a just about as good as it gets World Series. They might be the two best situated franchises in MLB right now. Twins a little more homegrown talent laden, but Mets have more money.
